 I am Crystal Chatmon, the owner of The Veganish Kitchen and I am all about LOVE! Love of family, friends, and of course, FOOD! The love of my son is what brought me on this path. When my son was 8 years old, he's now 15, he was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. It is a medical condition (ADHD). I'm not a super fan of medicine. If I can treat it with herbs, essential oils, or food, I will try that route first. So I began researching alternatives to ADHD medicine. I found that eating habits can improve the symptoms of ADHD. So I began my journey; gluten-free, Mediterranean, meatless. I tried the different diets here and there to see how my family would respond. Well! My son said, "Mommy, how long are we going to not eat meat? Because I'm okay with a few weeks, but I like steak." And I took that into consideration. My son is like most people, wanting a healthier lifestyle but still want options to choose what suits them best. And the concept of "veganish" was born. I began recreating my family's favorite meals, but meatless. While I decided to continue meatless for myself on a more full-time basis, I offered my family both options. However, on my journey I realized that preparing plant-based was always something I had to do. Now there are plant-based salad dressings that work perfect for salads. There's vegan mayo for your burger or sandwiches. There's even, bbq sauce, ketchup, and mustard. But I still found to elevate my dishes with one sauce, it just wasn't out there or at least not a plant-based version.

So I created one called Big Daddy Mapp Sauce. It is named after my father, Jimmie Carl Mapp, who passed away in 2009. He is a huge part of who I am and how I present myself to the world.
